The wardrobe plan

Hundreds of clothes to wear in the Verse. Some you buy with FiGGYZ Points; most you earn by collecting real FiGGYZ: a bronze, silver or gold variant, a whole wave, a whole line, a collector box, or a bigger shelf. Nothing here is in the game yet. This page is the whole plan, with every item.

How you earn clothes

  • Buy it. The Points Store sells 120 pieces in eight collections (Cosy Basics, Streetwear, Farmcore, Explorer, Festival, Seasonal, Retro Arcade, Toy Collector).
  • Scan a variant. Every line has a bronze, a silver and a gold reward. Scan a bronze variant of that line and the bronze piece is yours; the same for silver and gold.
  • Finish a wave. Own every figure of a wave and you get that wave's piece.
  • Finish a line. Own every wave of a line and you get its legendary piece, with a soft glowing trim.
  • Scan a collector box. 20 exclusives, one per box (how a box scan is recognised is an open question).
  • Grow your shelf. Milestones at 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 250 figures.
  • Earned once, kept forever. Each item is granted once per account. Trading a figure away later does not take the item back.
What happens when you scan a figure
  1. 1ScanThe QR code is redeemed: it adds the figure (SKU, colour, edition) to your collection.
  2. 2Look it upIts line and wave come from the live catalogue; its colour says bronze, silver, gold or standard.
  3. 3Check the rulesA tier piece for this line? Is the wave now complete? The whole line? A new milestone?
  4. 4GrantEach new item is granted once to the account. Old grants are never removed.
  5. 5CelebrateA toast in the game ("New in your wardrobe: Blue Blur Sneakers") and a "New" badge in the wardrobe.

The full catalogue

How they render on the villager

Not 348 meshes. Each item is a base shape painted with a 3-colour palette, a pattern, a trim and an optional small motif decal. The Classic Villager already builds of the base shapes; are new meshes for phase 2.

    Patterns

    Trims

Bronze, silver and gold rewards wear piping and a badge in their metal; a line's legendary piece glows softly; Points Store epics get plain piping.

    Motifs

    The icon plan

    • Style: the same toy-like inventory icons as the rest of the Verse (bold navy outline, soft cel shading, transparent background), but in each item's own colours, pattern and trim, so the wardrobe reads at a glance.
    • How: the existing pipeline (tools/icons): Codex image generation, 13 icons per batch, 2 batches at once, under nice and paused when the machine is busy, then packed into the wear sheet.
    • Rules in every brief: no logos, letters, faces, characters or anything from an existing game, film or brand.

    The sample batch

13 items across slots, sources and tiers, generated now so you can judge the style.

      What phase 2 costs

How the icons are paid for

      • The icons are made by codex exec on our logged-in Codex account. It signs in with ChatGPT (not an API key), on a ChatGPT Pro plan.
      • So there is no per-image or per-call charge: each batch uses part of the plan's Codex allowance, which refills every few hours. The plan's monthly fee does not change.
      • If the allowance runs out mid-run, the remaining batches wait for it to refill (or extra Codex credits can be bought). Running at most 2 batches at once, overnight, keeps well clear of that.
      • I could not read which Pro tier the account is on, or how much allowance is left; both show in the Codex usage page. So the honest quote is in batches and images:

      Everything else

      • The 3D side costs nothing to generate. The 25 new base shapes, patterns, trims and motifs are code in the villager builder (characters-ac/styles/core.js), built from simple shapes like the 21 that exist today.
      • Phase 1 used one batch: the 13 sample icons on this page.
      • The server work in phase 4 (grants table, two endpoints, back-fill) is ordinary API development, no generation.

      Data and API changes

      The item data

shared/wardrobe-catalog.js holds every item (id, slot, name, description, rarity, look, source) and the reward rules (earnedItems), ready for phase 2. When a new wave or line goes live, it gets its pieces there; a test fails until every live wave has one.

Option A: work it out in the game (fast)

The game reads the player's collection (the redeemed codes with SKU and colour) and the live catalogue, then runs the rules itself. No server change. But it trusts the client, and grants are not saved anywhere, so the server cannot show them on other devices.

Option B: grants on the server (recommended)

      • wardrobe_grants table: user, item id, source, granted at, with a unique index on user + item, so each item is granted once per account.
      • When a code is redeemed, the API runs the same rules and writes new grants; it returns them so the app and the Verse can show the toast.
      • GET /api/v1/wardrobe lists the account's grants and owned shop items; POST /api/v1/wardrobe/buy spends Points.
      • Grants are never revoked: trading or losing a figure keeps the clothes. One code redeems once already, so a code cannot be scanned twice for two grants.
      • Existing collections are granted once, in a back-fill, on launch day.

      Phases

      1. 1. This proposal (now): the catalogue data, the rules, 13 sample icons.
      2. 2. In the game: the 25 new base shapes on the villager, patterns, trims and motifs, the wardrobe showing every item (owned, buyable, or how to earn it), toasts, rules worked out in the game (option A) to try it.
      3. 3. All the icons: the other 335, in about 26 batches.
      4. 4. On the server: grants and Points purchases in the API (option B), back-fill for existing collections.
      5. 5. Keep it fresh: new pieces with every new wave and line, seasonal shop drops.

      Questions for José

Phase 2 uses the defaults marked Now:. Each is one switch in shared/wardrobe-catalog.js (RULES, TIER_COLORS), so a different answer is a one-line change.

      1. Licences. Do our licences cover in-game cosmetics inspired by each line? Until we know, every line piece is only inspired (palette, shapes, generic motifs) and no name uses a line, character or trademark. If they do, we can make some pieces more direct. Now: inspired only.
      2. Collector boxes. How is a box recognised? Its own SKU, a product type, or a QR code on the box? The 20 box exclusives use placeholder ids until then. Now: shown in the Wardrobe as "Coming soon: collector boxes".
      3. Variant colours. Which color values on a code mean bronze, silver and gold? Today the plan expects the words "bronze", "silver" and "gold". Now: those words.
      4. Points prices. Shop prices run from 100 (common) to 1,400 (epic). Are they right next to the house and furniture prices? Now: as proposed.
      5. Counting milestones. Every redeemed figure, or every different figure (no duplicates)? Now: different figures (duplicates do not count).
      6. Tiers. Should a gold scan also give the silver and bronze pieces, or only gold? Now: only the matching tier.
      7. Back-fill. Do players who already own figures get their rewards on launch day? Now: yes, worked out from the collection on load.
